So I'm a little late to the party... DS13 has just been notified and couldn't be happier!
We have been homeschooling using mostly the classical method since 1st gr. and will continue to do so until at least next year (8th). High school anyone??? Really looking forward to having a mentor and educational guidance for the teen years.
DS was finally tested last Oct. for both IQ (WISC-IV) and achievement (SAT), and very much to our suprise was eligilble for both DYS and SET. He enjoyed the testing process, but can't say DH and I liked filling out that DYS application!
I've lurked on the boards a few times, but now am feeling more a part of it all. While we all knew DS was bright, his lack of motivation sometimes clouded him as appearing very average. He also struggles a bit with writing, but loves to read.
Thanks to all for these interesting and informative posts. I feel like I have sooo much catching up to do!
