I can definitely relate to your reaction regarding the milestones. For me, I like to *try* and keep a good record of when DD is hitting all her milestones because I hope to make a nice baby book for her someday, but since she'll do some things sometimes month (or occasionally much farther) ahead I don't even realize what some of the milestones to look for.

We've actually missed some of them (like when she first started passing an object back and forth and the pincer grasp) because I didn't know they were milestones and it wasn't until the pediatrician got excited about all the things she was doing and started to ask about stuff for much older kids that I realized it was important.
