Resistance to anything different is common. People fear change. But if a solution like homeschooling could work for your child, then I'd say it might be wise to at least consider it, even if you choose not to go that route.
Tracy, if you think it could work for you then don't worry what others' think. Of course you will get lots of comments especially at the beginning but after a while everybody will be used to the idea. It also depends on how you go about telling people you are homeschooling. As I found myself more sure I was about my decision the fewer questions or strange looks I got.
