Children have odd ways of asking for things. If the child comes home and says "Mommy! Guess what I learned today!?" Then you and the school are doing just fine. However, a parent should always keep track of the schools' intentions for the child. You'll find that the more a child learns, they will gain new interests and maybe even get rid of a few. The most a parent can do is to keep track of their childs interests as they happen and find ways to encourage them. A parent doesn't need to know all about what their child is learning, but I've found that a child can be a teacher and a student at the same time as long as there is openmindedness.
