Our library had a 8th grade Math State Achievement test practice book that could be copied. IF a 3rd grader qualified to take the explore and end of 2nd grade took WJII achievement scoring in broad Math-scored 145, overall 8th grade could he handle this test?

I was thinking this should be something the school would understand. It states, the tests predicts how well a student will do in Highschool and what areas they need work. There is one practice test that covers lots of areas in Math and then there are 4 tests each (total 2hrs. 30 mins.) about different subjects (ex. geometry). I was thinking to have him take the practice test and if that wasn't to hard have him take the other 4 tests another day.

Is this a good or bad idea? I'm a bit scared to give him this. I really don't know if he is up for it but he was not scared of the explore and I told him it was for 8th Graders.

My DS has some issues with trust because he thinks challenge = more work, not appropriate. Any suggestions on getting him to take this test at home? How do I approach him to think it's a good idea.

At this time, I do not want full grade accelloration. My main goal is have him to learn something. Most school work is too easy and lacking depth. I'm open to trying many things- condensing subjects, testing out, 2-3 subject accelloration and/or enrichment. He likes his peers very much and has made big strides socially this year, which is a big boost for him.

I just don't want to overdo it with too hard of a test and would appreciate advice. Is this is a good idea to present to school as an at home test? Does he need to do all the tests for more details. It seems like it would give clues to holes in education.
    Or is another test better?
