Our library had a 8th grade Math State Achievement test practice book that could be copied. IF a 3rd grader qualified to take the explore and end of 2nd grade took WJII achievement scoring in broad Math-scored 145, overall 8th grade could he handle this test?
I was thinking this should be something the school would understand. It states, the tests predicts how well a student will do in Highschool and what areas they need work. There is one practice test that covers lots of areas in Math and then there are 4 tests each (total 2hrs. 30 mins.) about different subjects (ex. geometry). I was thinking to have him take the practice test and if that wasn't to hard have him take the other 4 tests another day.
Is this a good or bad idea? I'm a bit scared to give him this. I really don't know if he is up for it but he was not scared of the explore and I told him it was for 8th Graders.
My DS has some issues with trust because he thinks challenge = more work, not appropriate. Any suggestions on getting him to take this test at home? How do I approach him to think it's a good idea.
