I am piggy backing on Verona's thread to find some answers and offer our experience. These are great points. I have a PGlet with a low PS and a high WM. He's diagnosed to have vision processing disorder and CAPD. At school, these were problematic on a day to day basis because he couldn't pay attention to what was going on and would miss out on instructions. He scored As for his exams though, and I am realizing it could be the WM, as cricket2 pointed out- he's very good at working stuff out for himself and retaining it. His CAPD should have an effect on expressive vocabulary, but it doesn't have, nor on his reading, again possibly because of the WM.

No one ( not the psych, the gifted services officer, his teachers) thinks he has ADHD but there are periods when he goes into a zone. It's obvious from talking to him when he's in one of these that he's checked out mentally, and it's hard (impossible?) to get through to him. When he gets into one of these, it will last for several days to a week, for several hours at a time. He's fine otherwise. When I cut out gluten from his diet, the brain fog reduced dramatically, but he just slipped into one of these again. I'm wondering what it is, especially because it's so variable. Has anyone seen anything like this?
