Everyone's Santa thoughts have been very interesting to read. I do think we will tell dd if she doesn't figure it out soon. She wobbled on the tooth fairy yesterday, but then recanted. Perhaps there is more wiggle room here than I had thought. I have heard a rumor that she may get her Christmas wish after all, which may seem shallow of me, but should soften the blow... I agree that little kids want someone to be looking after them. I think this may be the real reason the whole issue has been troubling me so much - grade skipping, ditching Santa, and becoming a big sister all at once seems like a lot less being "overseen" to happen all at once. In a year, she can help be Santa for her sister and we can start the whole debate over again. I think she will enjoy that role.
