I am new to the forum but lurked for a while
Most of children here are very advanced with speaking and reading.
My son is not early talker, sometimes I wonder if he got speech delay. He is not that advanced reading like kids here, start reading at 3 and read Dr Susses book fluently when he just turned 4
But his math skill is quite amazing, sometimes scary, what he can do now(4 1/3 yr old)
add/subtract any numbers
Multiply two digit and division with remainder in head, simple long division
Understand negative number, prime number,odd number, event number, fraction....
Can tell time/date/age easily, always know what day/date is today, know how old everyone will be after some years
Can tell how minutes to go to certain time(for example he read the timetable to tell how long the bus will come)
He is crazy about math and numbers,does that all the time , when we in book store, he goes to area of math books and pick up the one he wants
Now we put him in Piano classes with group children but soon I found it is too easy for him because he already read notes by himself,and memorised quit many songs
I wonder if any kids here similar, not that ahead with reading but good with math, and still gifted?
And what to do with kids like him, good in math but not so good in reading in school??
