Well, homeschoolers are often treated as a separate group by educational companies. Since we are not paid teachers, they can't count us as such. Yet they also recognize that we ARE teaching and we are good customers for their materials. It's a courtesy they extend to us, and I for one am glad they do!

But I think companies have to right to choose who they sell to. Some companies choose to sell only to a given group. Think of beauty supply stores that choose to sell only to people with beauticians' licenses, for example. Some educational companies do the same thing. Personally, I would prefer that we not make waves about that too much, since if they get trouble, they're more likely to keep out homeschoolers than they are to include everyone. I would HATE that! frown

BTW, afterschoolers and part-time homeschoolers are generally included in the "homeschooler" umbrella. My problem in this particular situation is with the company/employee trying to leave those people out of the homeschooler group.

It may just be a case of offering too much info. Check homeschooler--since even if you're afterschooling and your child goes to public school, that's what you are--and keep moving!
