I do think the room parent in my DD class this year is super aggressive and actually quite offensive, so I bet you are right (this is probably more normal) and I am wrong. I find myself seriously disappointed these days.

No worries; I could have worded my message better. What I should have said was, "I suspect that the moms who only let you sign if you donate think they're being reasonable. After all, why should you get credit for something you didn't participate in?" This is where (IMO) they're failing to see that they're basically using public shaming to extract donations out of people.
