Last week was open house at my youngest's school, and to be honest, I was dreading it. Last year was a very difficult year, we did not get the test results I was hoping for over the summer, and so I was prepared for another litany of complaints from my son's teachers.
Instead I discovered he has a 103% in science (yes, there is still plenty of time to lose assignments or get poor scores), 100% in history, 90% in literature, a 92% in math ...
My son told me previously that he does not like where he is assigned to sit in health class, so I just about choked when his health teacher told me, "He is doing fine in here, and he seems to be able to understand everything we do. The only thing he doesn't seem to be able to do is, well, poor thing, he can't remember where he sits. Every day he's in a different chair."
I tried to explain that the poor thing could remember where he sits and that, of course he understood everything they did, but I don't think I got through to her.
