http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html#InventoryEverybody might already know about these Briggs-Meyers personality tests. Scroll down to the middle of the page, the top part's just trying to sell you something. Answer four questions. Take your 4-letter answer and google "personality type XXXX" <your letters. Click on the first link at the top. Very positive spin on everybody's personality traits. My personality test was positive, Yep. I have one.

So what if the hubby and I aren't "compatible" (I'm a thinker, he's too sensitive), what's that make the kids? Not compatible with themselves? Just kidding. It's just a personality test not a compatibility test. But it does help refocus our sight on each other through "the lens of strengths" and understanding. 'Course I would want understanding- I'm an ENTP.
I LMAO @ this; ENTPs are fluent conversationalists, mentally quick, and enjoy verbal sparring with others. They love to debate issues, and may even switch sides sometimes just for the love of the debate.
Ha-Ha. I do that! The hubby almost cried when he heard that. He got all excited...you DO!!

I always liked the Briggs-Meyers test. Through various work related courses, took the test about 4 times in total. The most interesting one was the one where we took the test, worked on a problem in a video taped meeting, got the results of the test and the predicted roles in the meeting. We then watched ourselves in the meeting and the predicted roles we took were just as predicted. I think this was a very effective way to demonstrate how different personalities work together in action. The course was a 2 day "Effective Team Membership" course. Don't know if there is any courses similar to this one offered, but I would definitely recommend this if it was available.
The last test I took was a little more detailed in its results. In this test, I was listed as a IENFP. I had assumed my previous results meant I was on the line between Interverted and Extraverted, but the other test said I was the extreme of both an INFP and ENFP. Made a lot of sense as I could never figure which of the two to choose.

I don't really even like debate - I only like gaining new perspectives. I am fluent, though! g

Haha, DH and I did M-B a while back and are both INTJ. So is everyone in my dad's family. Can you imagine the "discussions" in this family?

I ended up with ENTP fhe hubby ESFJ and the boy ESTJ. I could see where the hubby honed in on that one, although I think it's more of an exploration on my part than, well, "debate" insinuates more of a conflict than what I actually am searching for. I do like to see everything I can. The hubby, I have noticed and noted, has very strong ideas about the way things should be, but these ideas are formed by his community, not internally! I thought I was being nit-picky and always wondered how can you be so adamant about an idea that's not yours? And the hubby has noticed and mentioned his wonderment at how adamantly the boy is about his own beliefs. Well, turns out the hubby's personality is very caring and wants to believe the best of his loved ones and to bring out the best in them. Turns out the boy takes responsibility, good citizenship, and competence seriously (which I knew) but that means he has very little patience for any lack of the three in others. Which appears stubborn when it's a three year old not getting his way. Better to understand and work with him on it than just trying to train him out of it. I printed up all three, been comparing them. The hubby liked 'em too. So Jaime I googled "myers-brigs team" and stuff come up. Cool. Stuff to read.
Cool G, I'm proud to share a similarity with you.

I like some of the descriptions of the types on this site as they include information on how personality types relate to relationships and parenting. http://www.personalitypage.com/html/portraits.htmlLooks like I am outnumbered by the ENTPs so far...lol. The third letter T/F is the one with a strong gender coorelation. If I remember right, 60% of woman are Fs and only 18% of men are Fs.

We estimate that DH is ISFJ. DS says: There's no percentage in disagreeing with an 'SF' because they take to personally. And I think that's very wise. I also 'want to understand things from as many perspectives as possible,' and since I'm E, then that is going to happen out loud, to the pain and bemusement of my Dear DH. At a conference, I heard ENTPs described as having lots and lots of 'boxes' that they hope to sort all of human experience into, and delight in finding new places where boxes are needed and relabeling and reorganizing their old boxes when necessary. That felt like me. Usually ENTPs are in a minority here - my guess is that the type in the header is keeping the other types away - LOL! Let's see. Smiles, Grinity

I ended up with ENTP fhe hubby ESFJ. In case you were wondering: The J vs. P is very important for predicting which other scale will be most 'noticeable.' So for Ps like La Tex and I, The N is very dominant and the T vs. F line can be a bit fuzzy. This is true for me. I'm a T sure, but not as strongly as I am an N! For Js, like our DHs, The N-S is predicted to be more near the midline, with shades of both, while the F is a super F. One couldn't convince a FJ to 'listen to reason' (Although they would self report being as logical as Spock.) DH says to me: "You aren't very Romantic." I say - I'm certainly not sentimental, and probably not often romantic either - although my N can carry me off into utopian ideals, that might be called romantic. HTH, Grinity

I'm an ISTJ, and I had a hard time choosing, I went with 3/4 of the box but there was usually something that did not fit. So I was pretty skeptical, but wow, that description is me!! Although I would say it better describes my day to day rather than my eveything if that makes sense. I think I have more F but I didn't choose it.
I have to get the DH to do it too!
