I know many of your kids took to ACTs today--what did they think?

Our testing center was Packed! This is probably the most I've seen turn out. DS 11 said it was MUCH easier than SAT. He said he had the hardest time on Science Reasoning--guess we'll see in a couple weeks.

There were 86 students and DS was the only talent search kid. He seems to think it went well, even though he found it draining. He said the hard part about science was that it was at the end and he was just tired and he just didn't have much energy left. What he answered he thinks he did well on, but just didn't finish (even though he did fill in all the bubbles).

I chatted with the proctor a bit afterwards and she was very impressed with DS's very mature and focused behavior. She had never seen a talent search kid before and I could tell DS made quite an impression.

Ghost did not comment on it being easier than SAT, he actually could not wait till it was over. Today was Klondike day and he was about to ride a snowmobile for the first time in his life!
I quess the score can go down the drain :-)
Lots of kids writing it, but only one more from talent search.
This is the West, so ACT is much more popular than SAT.
In contrast to others, I have absolutely no anxiety as to the results. I don't even know why? Last year I called trembling the morning the scores were available, this year I do not even know when they are being released.

Yea! cym for your DS thinking the test was easier. Personally I also thought the ACT was easier than the SAT back when I took them (many, many years ago - yikes!). Hopefully he got a really great score.

acs - great to hear your ds thought it went well and I'm glad he was able to fill in all the bubbles. I will have to be sure to tell my DS to do that last minute fill in thing when he takes the EXPLORE test in a couple of weeks. I'm sure your DS did great too!

Ania - I can't blame Ghost for being ready to get done with the test so he could ride a snowmobile! How did the snowmobile ride go? My DS10 is dying to go skiing/snowboarding/snowmobile riding, etc. Did Ghost have fun??

DS got his ACT scores today and it is safe to say it went very well, better than on the practice he took back in November. He is in 6th and his scores are significantly over the minimum scores for 7th grader applying for DYS--his composite is a 26! I always thought those IQ tests had underestimated him and now my suspicion is confirmed. It feels really good!

I have several business trips going this spring so it may be several months before I get to the re-application for DYS. Right now I feel a little less compulsive about getting in--it just feels good to finally have a number I believe and trust.

    Thanks for all your support!!

    Hooray!

And I know what you mean about once you get the number you need, it's suddenly not so urgent-feeling anymore.

Here's hoping the re-app is smooth sailing! laugh

Wow, a 26 at twelve years old! Imagine what it will be by time he takes it for college admission! Congratulations to your son!

That is wonderful! Did your son take ACTs in January or February? I'm anxious for Feb. results, but I think it's still a few weeks off before we get results.

    Hi cym,

He took it in February. We went online a few weeks ago and signed up to access the scores through an online account. A big batch was posted on Tuesday night and another one will be posted tonight. Your might want to check and see if you can access them online too. Of course, we have to wait for the paper report.

    Good luck!
