My meditation teacher, John Kroeker, will be leading at least one of the Parent Session for this year's MIT-Splash. Please let me know if you are interested or planning to attend. PM is ok. The times aren't finalized yet, but here's the draft of his session description:

Meditation for Parental Stress Relief

John Kroeker, Institute for Applied Meditation

Saturday, 2:45-3:45pm

Taking even a few minutes for yourself, and learning some simple breathing practices can go far to re-center yourself and check in with your real priorities. Thats why we say Take a deep breath! We will learn and do some practices and explore how to integrate some precious minutes into a real-life day.

John Kroeker is a teacher of meditation and a board member of the Institute for Applied Meditation, which is dedicated to bringing traditional meditation techniques into modern daily life. After many years of intensity in academia, technology, and health-care, he is interested in helping people balance an active mental life with a heart-centered awareness.

Meditation to help Parents Mellow our Children's Intensity

John Kroeker, Institute for Applied Meditation

Sunday 1:30-2:30pm

We teach most by being who we are. Building a daily meditation practice changes the energy around you. In fact, once parents start meditating, it is common for kids to remind them to do itthey like that calm energy! There is also the possibility of going further; learning to be aware of the emotional and energetic state of those around you, and there are techniques to help bring harmony to those around and close to you. We will do a practical, and point you to resources for more learning.
