Curious, do you want only letters from current parents? I mean would you want letters from our parents or grandparents who have been here done this, just at a different time and place?

I like the letters to be fairly current. I am accepting letters from parents that have children in their 20's.

It's hard to know what to write that other people might find interesting. Also, I don't know DD10's IQ. I do know DD8's IQ but she is a gifted dyslexic which adds a whole other overlay (misguided Einstein comments anyone?). I will try to give it a shot. You can always just hit the delete button if it is not what you want.

Shari, I already sent you my letter that I wrote just for your project. I sent a copy of that letter to my grandmother and my dad so they could see what's on my mind. Sending that letter has opened quite an interesting discussion and has even been forwarded and passed around into an extended gifted community I didn't know much about. My dad wrote me back that he was concerned that I was developing Wyatt's mind rather than his "godliness" and that the mind would take care of itself and I should focus on charachter development in my son. So this explains why I just sent you a second letter. It addresses three different viewpoints- mine, my dad's, and my husband's. And I think it's what you are asking for; it's something I needed to take a few minutes to tell someone to clear up a misconception about gifted development. Gifted development does involve understanding his charachter so he can develop in a healthy manner; it doesn't so much revolve around how fast he can learn or how well he can pass tests.
