Flower, right now I'm reading "A Parents' Guide to Raising a Gifted Toddler," by James Alvino. Frankly, I don't think it's adding much to what I already know or already did with my older DS. I'm an information collector, though, so I like to read whatever I can.

Btw, my older DS navigated perfectly fine with a standard mouse by about 27 months. My 26 month DS still needs some help moving his wrist, but he has the finger click down. Both have trouble on our laptops with the rollerball, though.

My general rule of thumb is that 30 minutes of computer a day is enough (and most days, little DS doesn't use it at all), but my older one has used it more than that plenty of times and hasn't seemed to rot his brain yet!

Btw, with Starfall...my little DS (I need another name for him!) is now onto ABC Reading Eggs. Again, he can't play on his own, but he likes it. If you search on the WTM website, a woman shared a code that gets you 3 months of free use!

Oh I got a code recently for ABC Reading Eggs for a whole month. If anyone wants it please PM me.

"For each new unique user who registers on the site by 20 July 2010 for a FREE trial, using the access code, we will donate $1 to Children's Cancer Institute."

DD uses ABC Reading Eggs and loves it.

Thank-you gratefulmom for the information.. I will check out the book. Its a bit of a hard name to carry around mind you! I don't get much time for reading unless I take away from my sleep time which sometimes Ihave to just to feel like I'm a human being if you know what I mean...so I tend to take books with me and grab a few minutes here and there. I am also a "information collector" of things that I am interested in. Can't remember anything if I am not interested...

I did the free example for the ReadingEggs one it was the letter B but I did not like it too much but maybe a longer spell with more variety will help... It seemed to repetitious.... My little one is already showing signs of don't repeat with me kind of behaviour....

Thanks both of you for "chatting" with me... and all the others who answered as well!

Interesting Flower. We skipped over the first 4 chapters because DD was beyond letter recognition and she wouldn't have sat through all of that. I find the learning word group sections to be pretty entertaining for DD and though there is repetition, they do it in a way that is fun so she doesn't mind it. Plus she loves to collect all the eggs.

We used time4learning. com for our DS when he was that age. It gave me a little time to get things done. He was navigating by himself after the first day.

My DS loved Reading Eggs. It was the highlight of his day.

I definitely recommend doing the placement test to start with - we started from scratch and DS said he was bored after the first lesson. It was just before his 3rd birthday. So we started again and did the placement test which put him on level 61 of the then 80. No wonder he was bored! I have to admit I was shocked by just how much he could actually read.

I would usually sit with him, or nearby, so when he became frustrated by any overdone repetition I could quickly skip through it.

I also have the 4 week access code which I'm happy to post here unless there's a particular reason you didn't want to post it Katelyn's Mom.

I don't think there are any rules about posting codes or anything but I feel it borders on spam. That's why I just offered it up through a PM contact. I'm sure you're fine if you want to post it.
