As for reading in general, math may be the way to get him fluent faster in reading. Have you considered getting him a book on word problems in math or specific geometry for Elementary kids?

Mr W loves Dinosaurs and will spend hours looking through Dinosaur books learning the names. That has been a spur for him to become a lot more verbal.

    Hey Mathboy-

My 3.75 year old dd placed into Horizons Math 1 last week and she probably reads at a K level. She really isn't interested in reading for some reason. I'm not sure why but I'm just letting her do her own thing and not worrying about it. For example, a month ago, she could barely write and now (because she got interested), she is writing a lot. It was like in the matter of a week or so and she could write. I figured the same thing will happen with reading.

He is very good reading in math problems...but not into reading strories, his math skill is over grade 4 and reading probably grade 1 to 2..big gap!!

I wonder if it cause him trouble in school with his unbalance skill

Yeah, if children are interested in something, they can pick up very quickly!
As Austin said, get her some simple book, story related with math
she might love it and know math words soon

    Understood.

    Try this on:

    These books are a hoot.

In general, my reading took off when I was 5 years old because I became interested in animal stories. I read just about everything I could get my hands on - Jack London, Farley Mowatt, Walter Farley, etc. Call of the Wild was the first I read when I was 5 and it just ignited me. Based on this introspection, I think you just need to find a hook to really get the reading going.
