Inky, The public schools here in Florida claim they use rti for all students including gifted. I have not seen it in action for gifted, though. My husband and I attended the administrators/teachers evening meeting a couple of months ago(it was open to the public, but there was only one other parent there) describing how great their (Florida's) services are for exceptional students...they kept repeating "including gifted." Yet, all their RTI data showed how they help kids who are not performing well reach the level of their classmates. The lecturer also said that RTI is now a requirement and teachers were required to "get on board." It was like she was saying, "Come on, do it, you will like it!" So yes, on paper it is there, but I don't think anyone is sure how to implement it, and it almost seems like they are making it voluntary for the teachers to participate.... The meeting was in January, on my birthday. I remember the details because I really really wanted to go and made my husband come along as my birthday present...and I was SO disappointed. Nan
