We just got back from DS7's Destination ImagiNation regional tournament, and now the school has a dilemma. His team took second place! grin Evidently second place is enough to qualify for state. They have to answer yes or no to state by Friday. So now it's a question not only of funding but also whether the district and parents are willing to send elementary kids on a trip to Denver. Yeehaw!

I was proud of him today--he really pulled it together in the face of horrific boredom and alternating chaos and worked with his team. He had his moments of imminent meltdown, but he got it together. Now we just have to wait and see if he has to do it again next month!

Our team just had a party today to celebrate last weeks regional win. We parents were discussing whether we should hope for Globals, or not! We're going to meet a few times to smooth out some rough spots. They've already identified some things and set up a plan on how to fix some problems. And they have enhanced one of their sidetrips to make it really funny!

Good luck with your DS7 & his team!

If it is the state tournament, can I assume that you live somewhere in the state of CO? I'd be good with sending my 7y/o to Denver from somewhere else in the state and would see if I could go along as a volunteer if possible.

Oh, and congrats to your ds!

Yes, we are way down in the SW corner of Colorado, 8 hours from Denver. If they decide to send the team, I will go with them--actually I would likely drive up and we could probably stay with my brother in Colorado Springs.

I kind of doubt that they will decide to send the team, given the combination of a lot of factors--this is the school's first year doing DI, and next year we will be better prepared for the possibilities. We'll start earlier, too!
