My 2 DDs each have FSIQ of 140 on SB5 and 139 on WPPSI-3. I thought the DYS minimum IQ criteria was based on a FSIQ of 145-150 (depending on the test used), which would disqualify both DDs. However, after reading some of your posts here, I get the impression that kids can qualify with only verbal being over the minimum score for example. Can GAI alone also qualify you? If so, how do I calculate GAI?

I realize we would also have to submit a portfolio or do achievement testing, but until now, I have always thought we couldn't even consider applying with those IQ scores.

Do you guys know something I don't about DYS application criteria? Can you educate me?

    Yes, go read the requirements.

Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-IV (WISC-IV) Standard score 145+ (99.9th percentile) Verbal Comprehension, Perceptual Reasoning, General Ability Index (GAI), or Full Scale

I think there was a time where they had to have 145+ in FSIQ; however, now they can be 145+ in VC, PRI or GAI.

They also clearly say that those are minimum and all that, but yes, they don't need a full scale at 145.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as GAI for WPPSI-III (I sure wish there was) or SBV.

While you can use the WISC-IV to calculate GAI equivalent for WPPSI-III, it's not an official score.

You may want to check VIQ, PIQ on WPPSI-III and Verbal and NonVerbal IQ on SBV. Keep in mind that the requirements for WPPSI are 150+.

We still got a result that is equivalent to the GAI with each of our Dds' WPPSI test (different testers). One tester used the title, "full scale prorated without Coding", and the other one simply used the GAI name.

The gifted schools in our area, apparently like to see both the Full Scale and the GAI.
