Kriston - that is so weird. When I visited our only local Montessori School, I was told to sit quietly on a little chair and that if I didn't draw attention to myself the children wouldn't even notice me. It's true that I was too far away to hear much, but I saw some social interactions between a student and the teacher and some other students that made me think, oh, they are handling that well. Later during the interview, I made reference to how well they seemed to be handling the child who needed extra guidance. The teacher turned bright read and started spouting like an uncapped oil gyser, about how difficult it has been for her, having this difficult child around. I felt that she was mad that I had dared mention it as well. So I decided to keep far away from that particular teacher. I think that the teacher can make so much difference. Of course in small schools, avoiding a teacher can mean avoiding a school.
