My ds9 is just ON FIRE. He's singing all day long, drawing, lego-ing, outlining and illustrating books on various subjects, playing marbles, etc., etc.

I know we've been through this big saga the last several months, with the diagnosis of depression, the social skills training, the working really hard on his part to connect with people, and I think we've seen quite a turn-around.
But really, I can't help but think that this amazing turn-around is in large part due to plain old SUMMER TIME.
Does anyone else end up with a kid completely turned into knots at the end of the school year, and by August is just flitting around the house completely buzzing with cool ideas and big thoughts?

Slightly worried about taking the kid back to school next tuesday, that's for sure. frown

Well, it's definitely something I've thought about many times. Homeschooling seems right up my alley, but for ds, it's probably better for him to not be under my personal tutelage at this tender age. Financially not much of a realistic option, either, but again, maybe in a couple of years...just trying to keep him on a good track until it's possible.

The last half of the school year got bad with lots of frustration. Transistion to summer, 1st week, also bad as usual but grandma was in town that helped. I think we should plan a vacation the 1st week off from school just to love them up and get relaxed. things got bad again towards end of July. I told my son you must go to day camp this is not good for anyone & you will have fun. This was not a punishment just doing something else to improve the situation. What a relief those 2 weeks were. After that he was great like a new kid. His 1st week and half of school has been very good at school. Has he really changed? what happened? Right now I'm just happy about what's going good.
