    Hi

I would really appreciate some advice concerning my son. About a year ago - when he was three - his Montessori teacher suggested that he was quite advanced for his age and wanted to notify the school district. So, after a couple of meetings, Montessori observations and a home visit the school district decided to send the School Psychologist to our home to administer four subtests from the LAP-D for children up to 72 months. These were administered two weeks after his fourth birthday. The Psychologist reported she couldn't get a ceiling in anything, so could only say he was in the 99th percentile in two tests, and 91st and 93rd for the others.
My questions are - the school district have been wonderful to us and are looking forward to having him in their Pre(4)-K class in September - which is mainly Directed Play which I love - but he also has a fantastic time at his Montessori school and I could keep him there until he his nearly 7 if I wished. So - what do people think - a lovely supportive school district or Montessori? Also - do these results mean he could be gifted? I haven't pursued the gifted matter at all because I really believe he should just be running around on our land digging holes - but now Pre-K is coming up and decisions need to be made I just want to do the best for him.

    Thanks for your time
    Moo

What is the Montessori school saying? What are they doing to accomodate his current learning? Hard to say without more information.

The Pre-K sounds lovely with the playtime, but if it leads to K and 1st with 'sit and be quiet while we teach what you already know'-time, that could be a bit tough.

You'll have to visit the classrooms and see what the children's abilities and interests are like, and how the teachers handle kids who already know what they are teaching.

    Enjoy,
    Grinity
