Hey everyone. I often visit a website called slickdeals.net and today they list a sale at Scholastic for Teachers and Home schoolers. They have books as low as $1 -- thought you home schoolers out there might want to know!! I'm not sure how long this sale is for so you might want to hurry.

Maybe this link will work, if not just go to www.slickdeals.net and under today's date you'll see a message for Scholastic.

    Happy shopping!

Wow Hoosier Mommy, thanks! I went to a local scholastic warehouse sale a few weeks ago and bought a ton of stuff, but mostly fiction. They didn't have the "learning" selection offered here.

Great deal, I'm off to shop, much to the chagrin of DH!

    Thanks!!!

FYI, I just ordered from that site. You have to be registered through Scholastic as a homeschooler, so I called and the agent overrode it. I told her I partial homeschooled and she said it would be no problem.

Then I got a call back telling me that because they are "federally regulated" I could not have my order place because they attended public school.

I eventually talked her into to placing my order, but I don't think she is setting me up to be able to place future orders online, FYI.

I saw on the slickdeals site that it said for teachers and home schoolers only... I wasn't sure how exactly that worked. . . Thanks for the info. You must have great powers of persuasion. smile

Thanks for the tip, Hoosier. Unfortunately, I visited when the site was running incredibly slowly- it was taking several minutes for each new page to load. I put two items in my cart and was so frustrated after trying to get through the sale pages that I gave up. Maybe I will attempt it again later.

Hoosier Mommy: Well, this lady was so mean, I did cry. Real cry, not fake cry. frown I think that's what may have turned her.

Lorel, I think it's the first day. I had several things in my cart and actually got frustrated and called in. The reason it was so slow is they were getting SO much traffic.

Items were literally flying off the shelves. I had things in my cart that were marked available, but by the time the rep was putting my order in they became unavailable.

I did get some incredicble deals, hope you have success later in the day.

BTW, technically I AM a homeschooler, which is how I got to crying frustration. I technically homeschool certain subjects on my own and assign them(my girls) a grade; they then attend school for other subjects........

I finally managed to place my order this morning. It was so slow yesterday and the final steps of the order failed many times. I too didn't get a few items I wanted because they were sold out.

I wonder what kind of FEDERAL regulations allow a company to sell educational materials to parents who homeschool, but not to parents who send their child to public school? Isn't this denying a parents right to educate their child in the best manner possible? I wonder how we can find out about this?

I think the lady was just being a jerk. She actually quizzed me about what grade level I was hs at to make sure it matched what I was ordering.

IMO, she probably didn't think non-teachers should have access to the books. She sounded like a petty small minded non self aware person to me.

Luckily, I only had to spend 5 minutes out of my life dealing with her.........plus I ended up getting my order through.

    Yay! smile
