Kriston - yes I read a bit about that, but sort of doubted the small movements would work for ds! Of course I'm sure I've probably only read the tip of the iceburg on what is available on kinesthetic learning. Might have to start a separate thread...

Isa, I know what you mean, sometimes it's not that a child is participating in activities that are different than other kids, but it's the intensity, the details they add to their imaginary worlds that makes you think.. What, what, what is going on?? smile

I've read this more than once around this forum: when you think about these kids, think MORE.

Here's a fun thing to do: switch roles with your kids when pretending to be others. You'll get to see yourself through their eyes.

I just posted elsewhere about my own brand of kinesthetic learning: knitting while I read. Sometimes something repetitive like that works pretty well, even though it's a pretty small motion.

Not that he should learn knitting and do it during school...but just another take on the concept for you. wink

In general, her pretend play has always been a thousand times more elaborated and complex than that of most kids I have seen in real life, but when she plays with ND friends she reduces the complexity and adapts to the other child and the mom of her friend thinks I am exaggerating ....

My DD2 was always shy and would claim up around newbies and I always said she is like the WB frog who would sing and dance for the guy, (Hello my baby hello my darling...) than just rib bit for strangers. So I totally get where you are coming from. Thank goodness she is starting to open up some!
