I went to bed last night feeling troubled by DS7's school perdictament. He got skipped, he started ok, but now things are going south quickly as the school can't get it's act together.

I should preface this by saying, every now and then I have these weird dream that are like de' ja'VU in reverse. Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't. But they are really odd dreams because I can read in them and write, normally I can't do that in dreams (most people can't, I've been told)

So this was one of those dreams- I don't want to go into detail about the dream for fear of messing with whatever the cosmos has planned....lol I am laughing at myself right now because I sound so nuts..... but hey you never know!

Anyway, the crux of the dream was that things where going to work out. Maybe what I dreamt will come true, but it re-focused me and I am not so stressed, which is really half the battle in dealing with anything. This may just be my brains way of calming me down.

So how do you do it, what calms you down? how do you re-focus yourself?

I have to focus on something besides my thoughts. Martial arts works great! It's physical and meditative at the same time. Plus, you get to yell so you've got primal scream therapy in there, too crazy That's my stress buster.

My experience with stress has been that, in the throes of it, we tend to have dreams that exaggerate our fears, not ones where things turn out well. This may well be one that is given to you for encouragement. I just joined the forum yesterday, as a researching writer, but also as the mom of a 27 yr. old who went through a horrible public school experience. I would like to encourage whenever I can.

To destress, I: get out and do a hobby. I act, read, write. Metal detecting for old coins clears my head and burns calories. I read voraciously. I pray a lot. I jog. (works our tension) During the horrible years, my husband and I made sure we went out once a week without the kids. Or I'd meet him for lunch while they were in school.
