Just wanted to mention that I followed the advice given by so many here and had DS8 checked by an optometrist certified in vision development by entering my zip code at www.covd.org. I was surprised to find out that DS needs glasses for near work and that there are some issues (or maybe issues that present as vision development issues - who knows?). I don't have the report yet, but I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have posted about your experiences with vision development issues. I never would have known to pursue this wihtout having read about here. Thank you! I hope they have some cool glasses at the optician...

Good luck! It's always nice to have a new avenue to pursue to solving existing problems smile

DS has worn glasses since he was 5. He has always been able to find a cool pair. Last year they were an electric blue! I've always made him part of the selection process and he has never minded wearing the glasses.

DS8 got glasses when he was four. We have been buying the kind that are extremely flexible. You can literally wad them up in a ball without any damage to the frames or arms. In four years of ownership, we have not had anything break yet. <knock on wood!> They are much more expensive, so it is difficult to decide if they are worth it or not??? Since your son is now eight, it may not be as critical as when they are very small. OTOH, he is also old enough that you may not have to buy new frames every 8 months to a year since their head grows so much in those early years. So you might get more wear out of the flexible kind, thus making it cost efficient. Just thought I would throw that out there for consideration.

Kriston: Haven't heard your voice in a few days, or maybe I just missed your postings. Glad to see you around!! grin

Nope, you didn't miss me; I missed you! smile

Ike knocked out power in the Midwest with its 70mph winds, and we were among the victims. I've been knitting by candlelight instead of posting here. Not the same at all! frown

Do you know how much e-mail I get in 2 days? Aye-yi-yi!!! eek I'm slowly digging out...

Questions, I am glad you made the appointment. I am sure DS will look great in glasses.

Kriston, good luck tomorrow! Keep us posted.
