I don't think the CC allows switching although you may be able to drop a course. DD is approaching it with the same attitude as any other class, which I think is the way to go for her.

As usual, you made an excellent point and really made me step back and be objective. I would never pressure an instructor to accept DD into any course but I also didn't give DD enough credit. This particular class isn't really about pre-learned knowledge but about pre-acquired skills, which she has. I touched base with both the instructor and the department chair and both offered their permission to enroll DD. Just so I don't mislead anybody into making bad decisions, DD apparently is the best writer by far in her middle school and the school and district have given her the awards/accolades to prove it (LOL).

We started with the admissions counselor in charge of early enrollment, proceeded to the professor teaching the course and the department chair, and confirmed with the academic advisor. Everyone was in agreement that DD should enroll in the course. As a result, DD is confident and excited to start the course.

Thank you, sanne. It sounds like you have a tricky situation there. Fortunately, DD is extremely well-rounded and all skills are in place for college. Of course, she is older than your DS and technically a high schooler now that the school year is over.
