I've talked extensively here about DD11 and her social struggles, jealousy of DD12, etc. DH knows a a psych. who not only tests children, but has a PG son so has dealt professionally and personally with gifted issues. We have asked him to screen DD - but how do we frame our questions? Just let him know our concerns, and then he chooses the tools? I believe DD might be dealing with depression so besides the social struggles, I want to bring that up as well.

As far as I know, the ADOS-2 is considered the gold standard in diagnosing ASD. If he is trained to administer that, it could clear up some of your confusion?

My son passed ADOS twice out of three times he was tested (he was diagnosed at 2.5 with PDD-NOS based on ADOS but lost it twice later based on ADOS at 4.5 and 6.5).

So I am not a fan of ADOS as you understand. You either have ASD or you don't, and they've been messing with my head regarding that for the last five years (my son is 7.5y now). My son is caught in the middle between neurotypicals and not so much.

So if she is mild, ADOS is a waste of time in my opinion.

I would focus on depression most of all.
