I saw these and wondered whether or not anyone here had experience of them.

Yes. My DYS had a 6 month subscription last year at age 9 and did not really get into them. But other people seem to love them!

Ditto- DS thought they looked really neat, but they are all still sitting here unused. I think they were too young for him in general, though I didn't think that would stop him from messing around with the components. Still trying to decide if they are worth saving or if we should pass them on to a kid who will enjoy them.

My kids and several of the neighbors have really liked them. Caveat: My son would assemble anything that came with instructions that was put down in front of him anyway but the kits themselves were engaging. My favorite was a wind up flashlight from a few months ago.

I ordered a month subscription as it will give DD10 and I something else to look forward to and do together each month. I'll post a review this next year :-)

For those who have experience with these kits: how do the age recommendations align with your child's interests and fine motor skills? The science and engineering kits look like they'd be the most interesting for DS4. I just watched the zoetrope instructional video, and I think he could build it independently. Are the other kits as easy to assemble?
