DH was reading a chapter from The Phantom Tollbooth to DS5 tonight before bed, and he stumbled across a quote that I just had to share with all of you.

“Does everyone grow the way you do?" puffed Milo when he had caught up.
"Almost everyone," replied Alec, and then he stopped a moment and thought. "Now and then, though, someone does begin to grow differently. Instead of down, his feet grow up towards the sky. But we do our best to discourage awkward things like that."
"What happens to them?" insisted Milo.
"Oddly enough, they often grow ten times the size of everyone else," said Alec thoughtfully, "and I've heard that they walk among the stars."

Made me think of one of my favorite picture books for gifted kids...Some Dogs Do, by Jez Alborough:

Nice. Maybe this explains why we caught DD8 up reading the entire first half of Phantom Tollbooth last night at nearly ten pm smirk I never read it as a child, but DH loved it, so I put it on her kindle.

DS16 was Tock for Halloween when he was 7 or 8? It was cute and a very easy costume. And I found the book on his desk this morning. (I think he has been procrastinating from his writing assignments by re-reading it.)
