Some time ago, I came across a great blog or article that compared being too advanced in a class and having to sit through it to being an adult native English speaker forced to attend ESL classes. I am thinking of sharing it with a teacher but can't find it. Does anyone know of the article I'm seeking?

Thanks, squishys! I have searched to no avail a few times. I think it may have been in a blog post.

I vaguely remember this, and have been hoping it would pop into mind.

The blogs/articles of Tamara Fisher, Unwrapping the Gifted, Education Week often contain vibrant analogies.

Not the exact analogy you described, but still offering interesting comparisons, the article "Same" and "Equal" are not congruent illustrates multiple ways in which students' needs may differ, but they all need challenge.
1- mathematically and visually depicted: area of figures
2- reading and English Language Arts

Thank you, that's a good article, indeed.

I have had no luck finding the original article I mentioned. I recall sending it my mother and she thought it spot on (being quite gifted herself), but neither of us can find the link. Drat.

There was something similar in the Gifted Teen Survival Guide. I don't have it with me at work, but I'll try to remember to look when I get home.
