Interesting article. Does anyone else know of another article which goes into specifics about how all this test prep is harmful? I'm seriously debating emailing something to the school board. I'm so sick and tired of this district and all the nonsense, but I think all of them around here are like this. They say "Oh, these surrounding districts all do it so that must mean it's Ok and we're going to do it too." So class sizes for instance. They are talking about putting 35+ kids in each class (even for early elementary). The district superintendent claims that surrounding districts are increasing class sizes and there's no research showing it affects achievement anyway. Then if anyone complains about anything they can say "feel free to leave--but any neighboring district you enroll in is going to do the same." That's just the impression I get. There is almost no consideration for doing what is right for students. If they can get scores up and save money, that's all that matters.
