    Hi all,
DS was asking today about web design, specifically security features, by which I took to mean encryption. He has read about that for credit cards but it make me think he might like a book about the way web pages work and are designed. I found a basic design your own book on amazon. But I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations. He likes scratch and Mindstorm programming but that wasn't really what I was thinking about, I am envisioning more along the way it works kind of stuff. He has a DK book on computers but its a very superficial look. I want the next layer. I probably should just get this:

    Beginner web design

The reviews say used in intro college classes so I am not sure this is the right way to go or at least the right place to start. But maybe it is.

    Ideas?

    DeHe

I'm guessing he has a general idea of what he is looking for, but won't know more until he digs into it. Oddly enough, I'd think the internet rather than a book is the way to go. Hyperlinks will help him explore the ideas. I'd start him with Wikipedia, specifically on Internet Protocol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_protocol

That can lead to messaging schemes, security, encryption, scripting, markup, etc.
