    I think you are suppose to compete at their grade level; otherwise, what would be the point? I could see an exception if there is big money involved or you can honestly say that your child will be returned to the lower grade in a B&M school sometime in the future. Of course, this would not be an issue if the competition is specifically based on age.

    Say it is a math competition and just pretend he is doing pre-algebra as his class but he is physically age-wise a first grader. The first graders compete with questions that would bore a child doing pre-algebra.
