My 7 yo dd is really into geography lately and has taught herself to identify all the States and their capitals. She really likes anything related to US geography questions or maps. Does anybody know of any fun and informative activities on the internet she could do? Would worksheets be okay? I hear often of worksheets being considered busy work so I don't want to create a negative opinion of this new love of hers.

When my nephew was that age and into geography DH and I came up with a game we called "Travels with my Aunt and Uncle." We got him a map of the United States and a set of small toy cars. We then came up with different "trips" we were taking across the country. He would locate the different cities, national parks, etc and find a route from one to the next using the cars to "travel" with us. He loved this so every birthday and holiday we would send him a new set of adventures. As we got more advanced with it we would send along toy planes, trains, boats, etc and have him fly from one location to another, pick up a car and drive to a river where he would catch a boat, etc. It was fun for all of us smile

You should search the recommended resources threads, this is a popular theme!

My kids are older now, but off the top of my head, an app called stack the states, the national geographic bee site and app, the book scrambled states of America, a game based on the book of the same name (there are actually 2 games, possibly more, my kids liked the one with cards and maps better than the dice-based game), "where in the US is Carmen Sandiego" (this was software, but from several years ago now, so don't know if it's still around), lots of exploring with google earth, (found a random book with a scavenger hunt done via google earth, but can't recall the name; obviously, this one is not just US geography).
