Tomorrow I have a meeting with the school psychologist who completed my DD5 IQ testing and Achievement testing. We are hoping for a grade skip to 1st grade. The psychologist informed me by email that the IQ test results were adequate for grade skip (98% or above). She did not want to just email me her Achievement Test scores and final report, but insisted on meeting me to explain the results. My husband is convinced that this means her scores were not adequate. Does this seem appropriate after testing, or should I indeed interpret this as "scores inadequate"? Can you think of good questions that I should ask the psychologist? A search here did not come up with a list of questions, if there is one smile I like to be prepared and am not sure what to do to prepare for this meeting. In another week or so we will have the school meeting with several teachers to make a final decision. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Did the psychologist previously lead you to believe there would not be a follow up meeting? Delivering results in person is pretty standard (good) practice.

It is standard practice to get scores in a meeting, and it's professional that they didn't want to e-mail confidential scores. Maybe you got a good situation here!

    Thanks for the questions!
DD5 attends a GT magnet school. At this time she gets pulled out 45 minutes classes with the GT teacher twice weekly, and goes to 1st grade for reading 2 to 3 times a week. Im addition to that she gets a weekly "homework" package (3-4 pages) that has work at her level (2nd grade math, 1st- 2nd grade reading comprehension). Our K teacher is fabulous - she adjusts homework based on her current interests (fractions are the flavor of the week) as well well as our input. My daughter would love to spend more time in first grade - it is much more her level, and she is bored with the basic work in K. Last month she was bullied by 6 kids in class who called her dumb and stupid, which brought her to tears. The bullying was solved immediately after I told the teacher and the school counselor. It is my impression that she connects better with children 1 to 2 years older than her. Anyway, I will let you know how the meeting goes this afternoon.
