    Hello folks,

I was delighted to come across this resource and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a Canadian mother of a one-year-old son who has shown a zest for...everything, really, since his earliest days.

Having never had much exposure to infants before my son, I thought his development was typical until, one day at 5.5 months, he started speaking meaningfully (e.g. holding out a board book at me and exhorting, "read book, read book!). These are still early days and my view is that I should follow my son's cues. While I'm not big on labels, he possesses an insatiable hunger for life and learning that I believe should be lovingly nurtured.

My husband and I both come from accelerated backgrounds, but obviously we have limited memory of our early learning and experiences. In joining the forum, I'm hoping to glean wisdom from your journeys with your children and make a few friends along the way.

    Thanks all!

Thanks CCN! I appreciate the warm welcome, and from a fellow Canuck no less. I look forward to getting to know you and everyone else on the forum.
