OP TwinkleToes Member T Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 435	Does anyone know of a good dictionary for a five year old who reads beyond third grade, but whose spelling isn't as advanced as her reading. I'd like to find a reference to help her when she is writing. Thanks in advance.

DeHe Member Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 735	Hi TT DS 5 has this one. DK dictionary We like the DK non fiction - we have the encyclopedia too. Not much use now in terms of teaching new words, or even that many concepts - but for spelling both would be good. DeHe

mnmom23 Member Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 701	What about a combination of: http://www.amazon.com/Scholastic-Dictionary-Spelling-Marvin-Terban/dp/0439764211/ref=pd_sim_b_4 (Scholastic Dictionary of Spelling, which sounds like what you are looking for) and http://www.amazon.com/Merriam-Webster-Childrens-Dictionary-DK-Publishing/dp/0756637589/ref=pd_cp_b_4 (Mirriam-Webster Children's Dictionary which has even more words and maps and is a great dictionary for roughly mid- to late-elementary kids)? She thought she could, so she did.
