    This link is an article about an essay. The essay (link in article) says Politicians have defined education as a tool to shrink the education gap. Period. I've been reading online opinions about the purpose of education this week, so this one really caught my attention.

    I "liked" Davidson on FB & they posted this link this morning.

    I tend to agree that "there must be a trade off between universality and rigor," and that "the US is not in the position to be caviler about the education of it's best performing students". But that's only if I believe the nightly news.
    I do agree it's not fair if certain neighborhoods achieve at different rates than others, but the obvious answer is to quit treating kids like statistics and give them the education the need at the present time.

    Wouldn't that be lovely? It's not very cost-effective though. I mean you have to actually think about it then. You can't just follow the rules.
