It was just a year ago that we received a call from the school saying that our DS (@ age 7) had done extremely well on a screening test. We had no familiarity with testing of any sort so what she had to say didn't mean too much.

We knew that school was terribly easy for him, but didn't fully comprehend the degree of "easy." He's not one of the kids begging to set up a physics lab in his closet, but is, instead, quite happy coasting merrily along in school and digging in the sandbox at home.

For us, the ultimate collection of testing -- and hours of related reading -- helped us come to better understand the degree of his abilities... and the severe lack of challenge he faced on a daily basis.

While the scoring didn't provide specific guidance, it certainly showed that something needed to be done.
