I think we should question the idea that there is such a thing as "college level work." Are we talkin' physics at MIT and analytic philosophy at Reed College? Or are we talkin' Math 1A and English 1A at Southeastern Nowhere State U?

There is a state college in North Dakota where you can earn a degree in (I am not making this up) how to run a John Deere dealership. (I know this because I was at the meeting where the State Board of Education approved it. They were very proud of themselves for "forging partnerships between business and education.") We need to de-mythologize college.
