Great follow-up. The "thinking ahead" is the reason for my push for middle school credit. In our scenario, my son will exhaust math/science offerings at the high school. It is pretty clear that dual enrollment at a local college to continue the logical progressions is the agreed path.
The issue becomes whether the class taken at the college will be used for graduation credit. Many top universities will allow credit for the college course taken in HS if it is not used for graduation credit. Duke is an example. For this reason we want to leverage all the early credits possible so we don't have restrictions in the future.
