I think about this a lot, with regard to my 10 year old.
The good news is, I think the ridiculous pressure for high schoolers to aim for "Stanford or bust" is going to be reduced by these trends. Plenty of recent elite college grads who cannot land a job because they didn't necessarily follow their passion and did something like CS or Finance, hoping to become an entry level software engineer or iBanker. But those are two of the jobs - especially at the entry-level - that AI can already do very well. It may also inspire many to forgo elite colleges altogether, take a harder look at professions (both white collar and blue collar) which don't place as much weight on how selective the college is.
