I don't know the answer to your question, but I would do everything I could to just sit on my hands and wait it out. You should have an answer at the end of August, right? That's only a couple of weeks away. You can do it.

My gut feel is that he qualified under the old rules (IQ+achievement, with a lower threshold for achievement), and he qualifies under the new rules (IQ only), so I would be shocked if they rejected him because the achievement test doesn't meet the more stringent standard. I don't work for DITD, so this is just a random person saying it, but I do say that I'm pretty certain he'll get in.
