I'm awaiting DYS application results. After sitting on test results for almost two years, I finally submitted the DYS application in June. My son's IQ scores exceed the minimum requirement for DYS. Achievement scores met the guidelines as of June, but not the new requirements. My husband ignored the email and didn't submit the parent agreement form in time (UGH), and so our application was not considered complete until July, when the qualification criteria changed. Had I submitted the application in July, I would have only sent the IQ scores and not included the achievement scores (which are several years old anyway).

So...my question is...do you think the achievement scores will be considered a negative and prevent him from qualifying, even though his IQ score exceeds the min. requirement and only one area is now required (IQ or achievement)? I thought about emailing Davidson to ask, but the website says to only email if there's a big problem with your application and I didn't want to bring unnecessary attention to our application. Guess I'm just hoping for some reassurance. smile

Haven't tried to submit a DYS application, so I don't know from experience (others may), but I would think that the new requirements are to avoid disqualifying PG kiddos who have specific strengths, rather than global. I.e., if I were in your position, I wouldn't worry about the achievement being lower, as long as the cognitive qualifies.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would do everything I could to just sit on my hands and wait it out. You should have an answer at the end of August, right? That's only a couple of weeks away. You can do it.

My gut feel is that he qualified under the old rules (IQ+achievement, with a lower threshold for achievement), and he qualifies under the new rules (IQ only), so I would be shocked if they rejected him because the achievement test doesn't meet the more stringent standard. I don't work for DITD, so this is just a random person saying it, but I do say that I'm pretty certain he'll get in.
