Well, about an hour after my post I got a post from Angle #2, the highly gifted magnet angle. They contacted me to say if we had a district-administered IQ test, DD could attend the highly gifted magnet. The gifted rep said the wait list is perhaps too long, time wise, for a September admit, but it was worth a try. So off I went to submit my request for an IQ test, this time to DD's school gifted coordinator, not the special ed coordinator. She, too, advised me to wait until 2nd grade OLSAT and 3rd grade cluster, but the highly gifted magnet rep poo-pooed that idea and urged me to press on. The school gifted coordinator warned me the district can take 6-8 months to test, but I don't care, I have to try. So today I submitted my written request for a district IQ test and I will provide a copy of the private testing tomorrow for special ed and gifted staff to see. I haven't had a chance to do that yet, and I believe it may help illuminate my sincere concerns to accommodate this learning creature before she drops out of high school.
