It's truly a gift to be able to sense a "pinch of this, or a pinch of that" in a recipe.
It's truly a gift to be able to discern a "whiff of this, or a whiff of that" in a perfume.
Think of those wine connoisseurs! Or those coffee cuppers!
I agree with Ametrine, with the exception that IF this sense makes you extremely picky about food FOR LIFE (some very picky children grow up to be gourmets as adults), then it is a liability.
I would never trade away my ability to detect subtleties of flavor, hints of spices, etc. I used to work as a chef and I love to cook. I also feel it enriches my experience of life! I believe my DD also possesses abilities with smell and taste, should she wish to use them.
