Am I the only one with alarm bells going off? This sounds to me like code. Rough translation: "This teacher is a rigid thinker and hates to be told things by parents. If you're lucky she might notice on her own, and then you can give her a gentle nudge that might help her along, but only if you're vague enough about it. Good luck."
Could be. But there can be other reasons. Around here "all the children are above average" and principals are besieged by parents who think their kids are brilliant. If the principal made lots of promises about extra testing and special placements to all the parents before the school year started, it would be mayhem. They do need a little time to figure out this whole new batch of kids.
I don't think it's to be scared about; and I wouldn't assume the worst; but I think it's a situation to try out and see what happens, watchfully.
